There's something poignant about your last child's graduation from college. An end of era sadness on the part of the parents and an euphoric beginning happiness for the kid.
A first-time graduate knows he/she can conquer the world, solve any issue be it global warming, world peace, the middle east -- go figure -- whatever's out there, they have a solution. They can negate any hurdle blocking his/her ultimate goal. I firmly believe that's why we've been able to grow and prosper, because of those new graduates who are so eager to get out in the real world and make a difference.
I say -- go for it! Be totally naive, because wearing blinders and not listening to the naysayers will get you to where you want to be.
As you might have guessed -- my youngest son graduates this weekend with a double major in finance & marketing. (The finance part he gets from his mom). We're all travelling up to see him graduate. Even his grandmother and uncle are flying in.
So, young'un, your mom and dad are very proud of you. And you must forgive your mom when she tears up this weekend.
Cheers,
Jianne
