Thanksgiving has rapidly become one of my favorite holidays. Now, bear in mind that we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Trinidad (where I grew up). I never understood the whole she-bang, you know turkeys blah-blah-blah – it seemed like a watered down version of Christmas. After eleven years of living in this great country, I now understand and love the Thanksgiving holiday.
My whole Trinidadian family now appreciates the holiday too. It’s a fitting tribute to the founders of the nation, but also a way to unite all the creeds, races, and religions that make up this country. And, it’s a day to pause, to relax, and take the time to count your blessings.
I’m thankful for so much this annus horribilius. Yes,it’s been a trying year. A broken sternum, four cracked ribs, a broken fibula, months in a cast, months wearing a bone stimulator – but you know what? I survived. And I live life a little differently now. I want every second of whatever time I have left. And it’s not about money or possessions – it’s about who I spend time with. Even online. Especially online.
So, this week, I’m thanking the ubiquitous you; everyone who drops in and reads the blog, anyone who takes the time to comment, and particularly those of you who’ve actually read a book of mine.
Thanks for spending some of your precious time with me.
I’m not blogging again until next Monday. So have a joyous holiday and be safe on the crowded roads.
Cheers,
Jianne
