My guest blogger today is author, Allie Ritch, who won my restaurant gift card last month and had a heck of a time claiming her prize. Here is her adventure.
Allie Ritch's Outback Adventure (or I Want My Bloomin' Onion)
I was recently the lucky winner of one of Jianne's generous online giveaways, which gave me a gift card to Carraba's/ Outback and some affliated restaurants. What follows is an adventure in craving land.
Day 1 - Friday
I love garlic - it does keep the vampires away - so I decide lunch at Carraba's Italian Grill is just the ticket. A thirty drive north and several errands later, I'm famished and salivating for some tasty Italian. I pull up to the restaurant. step inside...and am told they serve lunch on Saturdays not Fridays. Aargh!
Nothing if not resilient, I remember that the card is good at Outback Steakhouse. Suddenly I'm having a flashback to the last time I had a Bloomin' Onion, which was waaaay too long ago. I'm a huge onion ring fan, and they're good for my psychological welfare if not my body. Now I'm craving one of these bad boys. Desperately. So I hop in the car and drive to the nearest Outback Steakhouse. I stroll up to the door and see by their sign that they are not open for lunch on Fridays either.

Damn you, lunch gods! I just want a Bloomin' Onion!
Day 2 - Saturday
This onion hankering simply won't leave me. I must press on. Having already tried north, I see I must forage to the south this time. I find the nearest Outback in that direction. They don't serve lunch, but they do provide curbside takeout. Yay! No cooking tonight.
Ah, sweet victory. My order? Let's see. That will be one Bloomin' Onion and some French Onion soup - I kid you not.

All that's left for the evening is to settle down for a nice read. How about Jianne Carlo's The Bear and the Bride?

Thank you, Jianne, for the wonderful giveaway. You'll never know how much I enjoyed my hard-won treat.
I couldn't stop laughing all the way through this - thank you Allie for brightening my Friday!
Cheers,
Jianne
