I saw the movie Duplicity on cable the other night. A twist within a twist, a very interesting movie, and I was pleasantly surprised at the ending. Not pat at all.
Julia Roberts and Clive Owen starred in the movie, both excellent actors. Although I enjoyed the movie, I felt the chemistry between the two didn’t quite gel. When the chemistry’s spot-on you get a movie like The Big Easy (whew I have to fan myself just thinking of Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin) , or Children of a Lesser God with William Hurt and Marlee Matlin. That scene where William Hurt turns to her and says, “Well, I’m glad it was good for you.” Amazing.
That’s chemistry and only one movie that I’ve seen lately has anything close to explosive chemistry, Letters to Juliet. Strangely, it’s the chemistry between Vanessa Redgrave and Franco that sizzles and theirs is the minor love story.
What movies have that explosive chemistry for you?
