CENT Day 13
Vegas hotels are fascinating in a surreal sense, at once over-powering in sheer size, scale, and true in-your-face ostentation. This city proves that little boys never grow up, each casino owner trying to out-do the other.
The strip at night takes on a capricious unreality, flashing neon combating strategic lighting designed to seduce the pedestrians, to lure the gamblers inside. Here’s a couple of shots of the hotels after sunset.
We came upon the gardens of Bellagio, pictured below, set in a serene conservatory backlit by the sun’s rays. Lovely.
And then there were The Fountains of Bellagio - astounding. In my view, The Fountains performance is the equivalent of a water ballet, both haunting and graceful, in cadence to an eclectic selection of music; Singin’ in the Rain, the Hallelujah Chorus, My Heart Will Go On, This Kiss, Time to Say Goodbye, and so many more tunes that a single performance isn’t repeated all night long. If you’re ever in Vegas, this is a must see. Here’s a link to my favorite(turn the volume up and make sure you’re in full screen mode):
A terrific way to end an evening with the lyrics of the classic Time To Say Goodbye playing in your brain.
Cheers,
