I apologize for the intermittent blogging over the last couple of weeks. I pinched a nerve in my neck and I’ve been incapacitated to an extent. I’m taking the next couple of weeks off – I’ll start blogging again on September 1st and I hope to have a few surprises in store for everyone. Email’s working and I’ll be responding to everyone as usual....Read More

I think there is nothing worse for an author than waiting for a reply from their editor/publisher. After you’ve completed a story and submitted it there is no guaranteed turn around time for a reply on acceptance or rejection. Oh, you say, but you’ve been with this publisher for eons - why would they reject one of your manuscripts? Hah! Believe me it happens. And the ...Read More

I’m sure everyone’s read or seen the news about flight attendant Steven Slater’s response to a passenger disobeying clearly stated and known aviations regulations requiring passengers to be seated until a landing airplane taxis to a stop. Not only did the passenger physically harm Slater, he also refused to give the apology Slater demanded. However, Slater violated all pro...Read More

It occurred to me the other day that we don’t recognize people who exhibit extraordinary courage in everyday life. So I decided to devote one blog a week to ordinary people who are courageous but are not praised for their actions.I thought I would begin by defining courage.According to Wikipedia, courage is the ability to confront fear, risk, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation. Wiki further ...Read More

Wow the publishing world is in chaos.Barnes and Noble have put themselves up for sale. Dorchester Publishing has announced they’re going digital. I know so many authors who only have print rights to their work and I feel for them. I came into writing and publishing via eBooks so all of my rights are intact. Other authors aren’t certain of what will happen to their rights and that&rsquo...Read More

I don’t know how many of you have followed the cases of the two women sentenced to death by the Iranian courts, but they need your help NOW. According to unconfirmed reports, the courts will render their sentence any day now. Sakineh Mohammedi Ashtiani confessed to adultery after suffering 99 lashes and was sentenced to be stoned to death in 2006. Zeynab Jalalian was convicte...Read More

Isn’t it funny how we take good health for granted? I’ve managed to reach middle age without any major health incidents and thought I'd escape the trials and tribullations and aches most people seem to acquire. However, the last year and a half have been trying health wise. And old bodies don’t heal as quickly and as thoroughly as young ones. Two weeks ago, I pinched ner...Read More

I did it! I finished Lucifer’s Choice! Yay! Lucifer’s Choice is the second Hades Squad book and I like Sax Anders aka Lucifer as much as I like Linc Chapman aka Sinner of A Paratrooper in a Pear Tree. In a way it’s fitting that I finished the manuscript today as this is the date the winners of the Passionate Plume Contest will be announced. Paratro...Read More

A pinched cervical nerve is no joke as I’ve recently discovered. One full week after my overindulgence on the rowing machine at the gym, two fingers on my right arm are still numb, and the waves of sharp pain shooting through my shoulder, forearm, and back haven’t diminished in the slightest. Not a fun week. I’m hoping I will wake up tomorrow and find that it does...Read More

This is where I was supposed to be on Thursday - 8 Bells, the site where T is for Temptation is set.. I'm in mourning. Apologies in advance. I pinched a nerve in my neck, which is affecting my right arm - two numb fingers. The powers that be have me on medication and total rest (cheating a tad today - I'm not supposed to type). If I don't improve, I'll have to see an orthopedic surgeon (ev...Read More

Have you heard about the documentary, Countdown to Zero? It’s a film endorsed by several world leaders including Queen Noor of Jordan, and former CIA agent, Valerie Plame Wilson, that proposes eliminating nuclear weapons worldwide. The previews I’ve seen feature Iraq’s frightening and accelerating accumulation of nuclear weapons. The documentary also shows how easy it is to ...Read More

My good friend, Mary Ricksen, sent me an amazing video the other day. She knows how much I love horses and came across Stacy Westfall's 2006 Championiship ride on her horse, Roxy. This video has gone around the world not just because of Stacy's incredible talent and the amazing trust between rider and horse, but also for her dedication. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-7v8Ck1crg&...Read More

Whenever people find out I write romance novels the first question they ask is ‘Have you always wanted to write?’ I never know how to answer that query. Because, honestly, until five years ago I had no interest or desire to write - to read - definitely, but to actually pen a manuscript - no way. My day job is implementing computer finance systems. I’ve always enj...Read More

I saw the movie Duplicity on cable the other night. A twist within a twist, a very interesting movie, and I was pleasantly surprised at the ending. Not pat at all. Julia Roberts and Clive Owen starred in the movie, both excellent actors. Although I enjoyed the movie, I felt the chemistry between the two didn’t quite gel. When the chemistry’s spot-on you get a movie like The B...Read More

The World Cup is over and Holland lost, but they deserved to. In a boooring game where 14 yellow cards were issued, most to the house of orange, Spain won their first ever World Cup. Congratulations España! Well Done. For me, this World Cup has been the most exciting soccer tournament I’ve ever witnessed. I’m not sure why, but I think the principal reason was the ...Read More

We had a visitor in our pool this morning. A four foot alligator. My DH decided he could handle the situation. Two hours later he called animal control. That little critter was fast and furious! Word of advice, no matter how small an alligator is, call animal control. Those guys have dinosaur teeth and they race like horses on those tiny flipper feet. Hope I never wake up to a gator ...Read More

Okay so it’s decided. Spain versus Holland. What a game this is going to be! Neither team has ever won a World Cup. And both are at the top of their game. I know the odds are in favor of Spain right now, but I’ll be rooting for the House of Orange. I am so looking forward to Sunday. We haven’t decided where we’re watching the game...Read More

They did it! The house of orange ruled the day once again. What a glorious game. I feel so sorry for anyone who doesn’t enjoy or understand soccer. This has been an amazing World Cup and FIFA has done a tremendous job. MyDH said the other day that the only other organization with such clout in the world is the Catholic Church. And I’m not sure he isn’t spot on. Of course, i...Read More

Our first hurricane of the season, Alex, is approaching the coasts of Texas and Mexico. Living in South Florida means we all take any storm seriously, especially after having experienced Hurricane Wilma’s eye five years ago. What concerns me about this hurricane season is, of course, the oil spill. I can only pray that whatever effects the rain and waves have will be beneficial for our suffering...Read More
